TUM declares solidarity with the people of Israel after the terror attack

October 13, 2023

Dear members of our TUM family, The unprecedented violent attack on Israel shocked us and left us in fear for our friends and scientific partners whose lives have been torn apart. They have experienced loss and are fearful of family members and loved ones in Israel. At TUM, our strength in research and education benefits largely from working in a climate of diversity, inclusion, and mutual respect. Please do not hesitate to contact our TUM support services if you should need help or assistance. We at TUM hold long-time and valuable partnerships with several universities and scientists in Israel.

Dear members of our TUM family, The unprecedented violent attack on Israel shocked us and left us in fear for our friends and scientific partners whose lives have been torn apart. Let there be no doubt: These terrorist actions against civilians are completely unacceptable, and there are no reasons imaginable to justify this inhumanity. We must, and we do, condemn them thoroughly.

Several members of our TUM community are affected by this violence personally. They have experienced loss and are fearful of family members and loved ones in Israel. I reassure you that we stand by you in these difficult times. At TUM, our strength in research and education benefits largely from working in a climate of diversity, inclusion, and mutual respect. Students from different communities, cultures, and backgrounds work together to push the frontiers of knowledge, advance scientific progress, and create a better future for mankind. There is no place for hate and violence.

Please do not hesitate to contact our TUM support services if you should need help or assistance. We at TUM hold long-time and valuable partnerships with several universities and scientists in Israel. I have already expressed my support and solidarity with the presidents of our Israeli partner universities, among them our cherished partner within the EuroTech Universities Alliance, the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, as well as the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. I reassured them that we at TUM join them fervently, hoping for a swift restoration of peace.
