Statement by NYU Spokesperson John Beckman

October 12, 2023

The statement issued by the president of the Student Bar Association does not in any way reflect the point of view of NYU, which condemns the terrorist attack on Israel. The indiscriminate killing of civilians and hostage-taking, including children and the elderly, is reprehensible. Blaming victims of terrorism for their own deaths is wrong. See a related statement on behalf of the Law School from Dean Troy McKenzie and Board Chair David Tanner. See a statement from the Student Bar Association disclaiming the statement from the president of the Student Bar Association and indicating their plans to initiate removal of the president.
