In 2023, UniSQ will offer two Weis Scholarships to support students commencing or continuing their studies in a bachelor’s degree program (including dual degree programs) as listed.

First offered in 2022 and funded by an endowment fund providing annual scholarship support, this scholarship will provide support for students in their first year of study at UniSQ.

Value

Each scholarship will have a maximum value of $12 000 to be paid over three years.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or permanent humanitarian visa holder
  • have commenced, or be commencing their studies at UniSQ in Study Period 1 or 2 2023 ( e.g., Semester 1 or 2 2023 ) in one of the following programs (including dual degree programs):

  • Bachelor of Agricultural Technology and Management
  • Bachelor of Science (Food Science)
  • Bachelor of Science (Plant Agricultural Science)
  • Bachelor of Engineering Science (Agricultural Engineering)
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Agricultural Engineering)
  • Bachelor of Business
  • not have previously completed tertiary study at a diploma level or higher

  • be enrolled in a minimum of 6 study units across each academic year, for the duration of the scholarship as follows: (see note below)
  • minimum 3 study units in Study Period 1 ( e.g., Semester 1 ); and
  • minimum 3 study units across the remaining study periods ( e.g., Semesters 2 and 3 )
  • be enrolled on-campus, external or online.
  • Applicants commencing their studies at UniSQ in Study Period 2 2023, must be enrolled for their first study period in a minimum of 3 study units.

    Applicants commencing in Study Period 2 2023, are not required to have accepted/be enrolled at UniSQ at time of application.

    Selection criteria

    Applicants must:

  • submit a personal statement (500 words maximum) outlining:
  • what influenced and motivated you to choose your intended study program at UniSQ
  • how you see yourself as a future professional within your field.
  • provide evidence you have an income at or below the financial threshold limits as directed in the application process.
  • provide evidence of academic achievement as directed in the application process:
  • high school report card or post-secondary academic history (transcript of results) e.g., school, TAFE etc.
  • Please Note: If an applicant holds other UniSQ awarded scholarships, this may be taken into consideration in selection. There are some scholarships that cannot be held together.
