The Vivienne Cassie Cooper Award was established in 2008 by the generosity of Dr Vivienne Cassie Cooper. Dr Cooper’s distinguished research career spanned seven decades and focussed on understanding microscopic algae in thermal, freshwater and marine ecosystems.
Her purpose in establishing this Award was to encourage the study of algae in New Zealand, their life history, ecology, physiology, anatomy and genetics.
