What you'll receive

The Bolton-Clarke Aged Care Rural Clinical Nursing Placement Scholarship provides the provision of accommodation and travel, plus a weekly cash allowance, for the duration of a placement in a regional or rural location.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • be an enrolled international student at QUT
  • at the time of your application, be starting your final year of a Bachelor of Nursing, or second year of the Master of Nursing – Entry to Practice degree
  • have successfully completed NSB233, and entering into either:
  • NSB334
  • NSB335
  • undertake a primary health care placement in a rural or remote residential aged care facility in Semester 2, 2023. Available placements are in:
  • Bowen (2 placements available)
  • Cairns (2 placements available)
  • Bundaberg (2 placements available).
  • How to apply

    You must also attach a:

  • current curriculum vitae (CV)
  • copy of your academic record indicating satisfactory progress in the program and your expected data of completion; and
  • written statement (maximum 1000 words) about yourself and your intended learning outcomes from the scholarship placement.
  • What happens next?

    Your written statement will be assessed based on:

  • communication skills, including the quality of writing, presentation and information provided
  • knowledge of cultural safety and health issues encountered in rural, regional, remote and Indigenous populations
  • clarity of expectations and potential benefits from this clinical placement, and how the experience may be applied to your future practice.
  • If you are shortlisted, you will be asked to attend an interview from the week beginning 27 March 2023.

    Once the selection process is complete, you will be notified in writing of the outcome of your application. If successful, you may be notified by telephone or email before receiving a formal, written notification. You will also be invited to attend the annual Faculty of Health Student Awards Ceremony, to be held in April 2023.

    Conditions

    Your scholarship may be terminated if you do not continue to meet the scholarship conditions to a satisfactory level.

    If you choose to withdraw from study after receiving payment of scholarship benefits you may be required to repay some or all of the scholarship funds you have received.
