Criteria
  • Acceptance of an unconditional offer, or firm acceptance of a conditional offer, from Kent and Medway Medical School for its Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery course.
  • This scholarship has been kindly donated by Dr Stuart and Mrs Maggie Field who have specified the award for 5 years to support a student who evidences financial hardship. The evidence should correspond to the evidence needed to qualify for a UCAT bursary, whether or not the applicant actually applied for a UCAT bursary.
  • Preference will be given to a student who currently lives in the area served by East Kent University Hospitals Trust, or attended school or college in this area. If there are no suitable applicants, this can be extended to all areas of the historic county of Kent. Sporting, musical and charitable activities which benefit the community will also be taken into account.

    This scholarship is open to Kent and Medway Medical School applicants only. The scholarship has been generously funded by Dr Stuart Field and is intended to support a single student through each of their 5 years of study.

    How to apply

    Applications for this scholarship should be made via your applicant portal.

    You will only be able to submit an application for this scholarship via your portal once you have received an offer from the University of Kent.

    In order be considered for this scholarship, you will need to submit:

  • A 500 word statement titled 'Why I am suitable for the Stuart Field Scholarship'
  • Written confirmation of benefit award/tax credit notice, in the name of the student (vulnerable or discretionary) or parent (discretionary)
  • Documents to support financial status such as: 16-19 Bursary, UCAT Bursary, benefits statement, P60 End of Year certificate or self- assessment or previous 3 months payslips for adults in the household.
