The Prizes were established by ProCare in 2003 and are to be known as the ProCare Prize in General Practice. ProCare is a large primary care network of qualified family doctors (GPs), nurses and general practice teams across the Metro Auckland covering the three District Health Boards. ProCare is passionate about improving health outcomes and reducing inequalities for Aucklanders, with a focus on Māori and Pacific communities.The Prizes are intended to stimulate interest in general practice, as a career, amongst Māori and Pacific students.
