The Prize was established in 1995 and is financed from the investment funds which were made available by Norman Thom for this purpose.
The main purpose of the Prize is to recognise the best overall performance each year by a student pursuing a Postgraduate Diploma in Science in Environmental Management or the first year of a Master of Science in Environmental Management in the School of Environment.
