The Scholarship was established in 2012 and is funded primarily by a bequest from Margaret Burland to the University of Auckland Foundation.
The purpose of the Scholarship is to support an academically meritorious doctoral student enrolled in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences who has demonstrated financial need.
