Jamelia Gubgub and David Wallace Classical Ballet Scholarship

Generously donated by Jamelia Gubgub, former WAAPA student and dancer with WA Ballet, and her husband, David Wallace, the scholarship aims to encourage and support a male classical ballet student with outstanding potential. Male students auditioning in 2023 for a place in in the 2024 Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance) or the Advanced Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance) course at WAAPA will be considered for the Scholarship throughout the audition process. The Scholarship valued at $7,500 will provide a $3500 payment in Semester 1 and Semester 2 in 2024. Two scholarships will be available for award in 2024.

  • Eligibility guidelines

    To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, International Student Visa Holder or International Non-Student Visa Holder;;
  • be commencing in 2024 and enrolled full time in the Diploma of Dance Elite Performance or Advanced Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance) at WAAPA;
  • identify as a male; and
  • have and maintain an academic progression status of GREEN once enrolled.
  • How to apply and Selection

    All eligible applicants who have registered for an audition will be automatically considered for the scholarship unless otherwise advised.

    Eligible applicants will be assessed by a selection panel.

    Selection will based on performance in the Audition.
