Harry Lownds Memorial Scholarship (2023)

The University of Sussex is delighted to offer this scholarship of £3,000 to an applicant for Genetic Manipulation and Molecular Cell Biology MSc. The Harry Lownds Memorial Fund offers scholarship support to a graduate whose personal circumstances might otherwise prevent them from taking up their MSc. Harry’s family and friends established the Fund following his sudden, unexpected death in February 2019. Harry was in his final semester studying for a BSc in Genetics at Sussex University and had a passionate love for the life sciences.

Harry’s family and friends established the Harry Lownds Memorial Fund in February 2019. Harry had a particular interest in potential therapeutic applications of modern genetic techniques and hoped to go on to earn a PhD and undertake research into the interplay between genomic disorders and mental health. His family hope that this scholarship will assist someone with similar interests to pursue their academic dreams in ways that will in time benefit wider society.
