An award contributing towards living costs for eligible current, first year undergraduate students who have completed a Bristol Summer School who have been Sutton Trust, Next Step Bristol or Insight into Bristol participants.

There are two scholarships available that vary slightly in support.

Scholarship 1

One student enrolled on an undergraduate degree level programme at the University of Bristol will receive:

  • a tuition fee waiver in the first year (worth £9,250);
  • a £5,000 maintenance grant in the first, second and final year of their studies.
  • Scholarship 2

    Two students enrolled on an undergraduate degree level programme at the University of Bristol will receive:

  • a £1,500 maintenance grant in the first, second and final year of their studies.
  • Note that both scholarships are only paid for three years regardless of the length of the course.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for the Harriet Munro Scholarship, you must:

  • be a current full-time undergraduate first year student in 2022/23;
  • have been a Bristol Summer School student who was a Sutton Trust, Next Step Bristol or Insight into Bristol participant;
  • be a home UK or EU student with settled status;
  • be resident in the United Kingdom;
  • be eligible for and taken out all the financial support available from the UK Government (in the form of the tuition fee and living costs loans from the Student Loans Company);
  • have a demonstrable financial need.
  • Priority will be given to applicants who:

  • are from a household with a low income;
  • have identified themselves as having a disability;
  • have caring responsibilities;
  • are from a care experienced background;
  • are from areas of low participation in higher education;
  • have attended an aspiring state school;
  • have received a contextual offer.

    The deadline for applications is 5pm on 7 December.

    Assessment process

    Applications will be accepted from students who meet all the eligibility criteria and currently undertaking the first year of the undergraduate course.

    Information provided in the application will be used to determine which applicants display the most demonstrable need.

    Applicants who fulfil the most widening participation criteria and are ranked most highly by the selection panel's scoring mechanism will be given priority.
