Terms and conditions1. Background
a. Established in 2019, this scholarship is funded by the University of Sydney Business School to enrich the student experience and promote the profile of this program.
2. Eligibility
a. Applicants must be enrolled in a coursework degree in the University of Sydney Business School. Combined degree administered by the Business School students are also eligible.
b. Applicants must be currently enrolled in BWIL2150 or BWIL6150. Students who have previously completed these units are not eligible.
c. Applicants must have completed a minimum of 24 credit points of study with a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 60 and demonstrate financial hardship.
d. Eligible students who have previously received a Business School scholarship for a WIL Hub unit of study may only receive an additional Business School scholarship or additional funding (including funding under an NCP grant or an Endeavour Plan grant) for a WIL Hub unit of study with written approval of the Deputy Dean (Students and External Partnerships).
e. Eligible students who have previously received funding for a WIL Hub unit from sources outside the Business School (including funding under an NCP grant, an Endeavour Plan grant, or Global Mobility funding) may only receive a Business School scholarship for WIL Hub units of study with the written approval of the Deputy Dean (Students and External Partnerships).
3. Selection Criteria
a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:
I. academic merit, II. approval to undertake BWIL2150/BWIL6150 Experience in Industry, III. the application, and IV. demonstrated financial hardship.
b. The Scholarship will be awarded on the nomination of a selection committee consisting of the WIL Hub Programs Manager and the Work Integrated Learning Coordinator, or their nominees.
4. Value
a. The Scholarship is valued at $2,500.
b. The Scholarship is a one-off payment paid during the first month of the placement.
c. Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted, and it is not transferrable for another purpose.
d. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.
e. No other amount is payable.
5. Ongoing eligibility
a. To continue receipt of the Scholarship, the recipient must remain enrolled in BWIL2150 or BWIL6150 and complete all program requirements.
b. Students who receive a Business School Scholarship award are required to produce an approved social media article (word count and social media platform to be negotiated and approved between the student and the WIL Hub) that reflects how the Scholarship assisted them to undertake the opportunity for improving their employability.
6. Termination
a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:
I. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol, II. fails to enrol in or withdraws from BWIL2150 or BWIL6150, III. commences part-time study without prior approval, IV. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance, V. fails to produce an approved social media article, VI. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application, VII. does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave, or VIII. any other provision as indicated in these terms that would lead to termination.
b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.
c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
7. Other Conditions
a. By accepting this scholarship, the recipient may be required to participate in the marketing and promotion of the Placement Program and represent the University of Sydney Business School at associated events.
