In 2023, UniSQ will offer a number of Destination Australia Scholarships (Domestic Students), varying in duration from two to three years.

The Destination Australia Program is a scholarship funded by the Australian Government Department of Education. The program provides financial assistance in the form of scholarships for UniSQ domestic and international students, with the aim to promote tertiary education in regional Australia.

Value

These scholarships will have a maximum value of:

  • $30 000 (2-year award)
  • $45 000 (3-year award)
  • Eligibility

    Applicants must:

  • be an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident, or a New Zealand citizen
  • have accepted an offer to study full-time, on-campus in Toowoomba, in a program with a 2-year or 3-year duration
  • commence their study at UniSQ in 2023:

  • as a student that is new to tertiary study
  • as a student that is transferring from another institution
  • at a program level higher than what was previously studied at UniSQ (e.g., moving up to an undergraduate, postgraduate and/or research program)
  • maintain full-time, on-campus (Toowoomba) enrolment for the duration of the scholarship

  • maintain a sound level of academic achievement for the duration of the scholarship
  • reside and maintain ongoing residency in Toowoomba or surrounding regional areas for the duration of the scholarship
  • approved 'surrounding regional areas' must be classified as 'regional' under the Australian Statistical Geographic Standard Remoteness Areas (2016) – Health Workforce Locator map.
  • Selection criteria

    Applicants must:

  • submit a personal statement (500 words maximum), in response to the following:
  • Why are you interested in studying in a regional area in Australia?
  • What influenced and motivated you to choose your intended study program?
  • How have you contributed to your local community, and how do you plan to enrich the UniSQ Toowoomba community?
  • provide evidence of past academic achievement as directed in the application process.
  • provide proof of residence as directed in the application process.
  • Priority will be given to applicants:

  • studying a program aligned with the Australian Government 's National Skills Priority List
  • from underrepresented groups in tertiary education, including those who are:
  • from a low-socioeconomic background (low-SES)
  • first in family to tertiary study
  • living with a disability
  • First Nations people.
  • Please Note: If an applicant holds other UniSQ awarded scholarships, this may be taken into consideration in selection. There are some scholarships that cannot be held together.
