At a glance
The scholarship is jointly funded by Australia Research Council (ARC),
ECU School of Science, and ECU Security Research Institute (SRI).
The open and broadcast nature of the wireless medium presents significant
technical challenges for achieving security and privacy in wireless
networks. This project aims to develop fundamental communication theories
and practical solutions to guarantee wireless communication security and
privacy in future networks (e.g., 6G networks).
The research topics include but not limited to intelligent reflecting
surface (IRS)-enabled secure/covert communications, IRS-aided key
generation, security and covertness in integrated sensing and
communications, drone detection and countermeasure based on RF signals,
and fundamental theories for covert communications/sensing.
Eligibility guidelines
The successful applicant must:
meet the PhD admission requirements at ECU:
https: // www. ecu.edu.au/degrees/courses/doctor-of-philosophy; and
enrol in the Doctor of Philosophy (L61) as a full-time student at ECU
Joondalup campus.
Selection criteria
Highly motivated PhD candidate who has:
a bachelor’s degree with honours or master’s degree in a relevant field or
industry equivalent;
demonstrated strong background in a related discipline;
excellent research, analytical and writing skills; and
perseverance, independent and deadline-driven abilities, with a
comprehensive oversight capability.
Terms and conditions
Scholarships will be awarded to candidates for 3 years and can be
potentially extended by another half year.
The successful student should be available to commence onshore on-campus
by 06 October 2023.
