About University of East Anglia

Founded in 1963, the University of East Anglia is a leading public research university dwelled in the western part of Norwich. Initially, the university was based on a temporary University Village, positioned on the opposite side of the present-day campus. It began operating with about 1200 students enrolled for degree programs in English and biological studies. The Earlham Hall (now Law School block) was then the administrative hall of the university. Today, the university is amongst the best institutions for higher education.

Spread on 320 acres of land, the university campus includes college buildings, a healthcare center, a library with 24x7 accessibility, athletic fields and multipurpose halls. LCR or the Lower Common Room is the major gig and concert venue in the university.

On its southern edge, the campus features a lake known as Broad that makes for an astonishing bird watching site. There are many residence blocks and halls that offer on-campus accommodation to students. In addition to this, there are cafes, bars, a pub, a canteen, a book shop and a bank on the campus. Further, it is well-connected to central Norwich and the railway station. Frequent buses, taxis, and trains in the area make for a convenient transportation mode.

The academic structure of the university has been categorized into 4 faculties which constitute 26 schools of study. Each of these schools offers a plethora of degree programs in various disciplines of sciences, medicine and health sciences, social sciences and arts, and humanities. Moreover, UEA's Student Union has around 200 societies and sports clubs that cater to various interests like music, sports, debating, dance, etc. At present, there are approximately 16,872 students in the university which includes 12,888 undergraduates and 3,984 postgraduates.
